It's Done

Photobucket

I drew and submitted this as a poster contest for KWCW 90.5 fm. The prize is 100 dollars, which if I win I will request be put into ones and arranged in a briefcase so as to look like a vast sum of money.

Including pencils, inking, and the time last night and this afternoon spent inking, I have been working on this for ten hours.

YIKES.

UPDATE: I am trying to be mature about this, but the sad fact of the matter is that I lost the poster contest. The winning entry was by a Studio Art major with an emphasis on New Genre. This was his submission:

I suppose I "get it", but I feel like I should at least get some credit for putting in more hours. I'm sorry, I'm being unnecessarily bitchy. It's just that I worked really hard on my own submission and I guess I'd hoped that would be recognized. SIGH.

Anyway. Depressing post. Sorry.

If you win that works out to $10 an hour! Not bad.

Man I hadn't thought of that. Work on your mind lately?

Nice profile picture by the way, Sexybritches.

What I think would be funny would be if this DID NOT win, and if a person drew six commas and a doodle-flower and that won instead.

KWCW has never had anything so amazing happen for its aesthetic as Sam Alden. This is a true fact. This poster will go down in history.

Can we have a copy for our house in Walla Walla? Collectively, we are obsessed with it. Plus, it will remind us to drop everything when your radio show comes on. Of course, we're going to have to edit for CST...

You're amazing.

You are a pretty good commenter!

Ari saw this post and thought that it was real. The part with the comma flower. She says, "Here's the thing. K-dub would actually DO that. They'd think it was postmodern."

Did http://www.kwcw.net/images/spring09.gif win?

No, that one was from last semester. I don't know if that guy submitted anything this year.

WAIT I DON'T UNDERSTAND. what actually won? you are the only artist.

Good question Alexis! I don't know yet who won. It is my understanding that if I haven't won yet, nobody else has either. I will talk to some people.

As an unrelated note, this is the first blog post to exceed seven comments. Do I dare to dream that someday it could enter the double-digits?

ahem - random reader, stumbled on your blog, loving it.

I know this has long passed, but: your travail couldn't help but remind me of Calvin's (friend of Hobbes) experience of entering a poster contest. Except you are much more humble.

this is the last strip of a saga. Barely does it justice.
