I just got in from the residency program in Florida, a-bustin' with stories to tell and drawings to post. In the coming month I'll drag you through the sketchbook that I kept while I was there (the cartoonist's vacation photos) but for now, here's an inking study. The image at the left comes from Chapter Two of Eighth Grade, which I penciled and inked myself. On the right are the same pencils inked by Craig Thompson (with additional arms to explore gestural options). Look at how pretty the hair got! That's about all I have energy for right now, but there will be much, much more to follow. Thanks for your patience, everybody.
