A few months ago I did the artwork on the left for the comedy group Jetpacks Go!, and then they put it on a puppet-sized t-shirt. HOW COOL IS THIS. I wish that all my artwork ended up on a puppet-sized t-shirt.

These shots are from the pilot for their new kids show "about a 9-year-old kid who's the only human child of a family of puppets". It looks pretty pro, right? The colors on the jetpack t-shirt are by the generous and talented Alden Ford.

So as you may or may not have noticed, Blogspot is sort of not that popular anymore. I unabashedly love this platform, as clunky and dumb as it can be– but I just worry that people aren't reading it anymore. To that end, I have begun transforming my Tumblr page–which began as a way to give the sloppy B-sides from this blog a chance to shine on the Internet– into something more presentable. For the last few months I've been posting the same artwork to both blogs; if you read this Blogspot a lot, my Tumblr will look sort of like a weird alternate universe to you.

But anyway, this is just an announcement to say not that this blog is getting abandoned– we've got way too much history for that– but that if you would like to follow Gingerland on Tumblr, you now have the option. I can't get that glorious 1000px goodness on that site (Tumblr, being stupid, seems to max out at 700px) but it'll do. Help me stop feeling seven years behind the times, and help me start feeling only about three years behind the times.

This is the first of four drawings I'm doing for (capsule), a men's fashion show that takes place in New York, Paris, Berlin and Las Vegas. Each drawing is supposed to be sort of a summary of each city's flavor and mood; the reference photos they sent me were pretty interesting to work from.

I'm selling an extremely limited print run of my dream comic Garden Spectre.

"But Sam," you sputter, "I can read the whole thing for free online! Why cling to the dilapidated homestead of this outdated ink-on-paper publishing model when the future lies in the infinite rolling pastures of the Internet? Hitch that Conestoga wagon to the pixeloxen and go west, young man!"

"My dear reader," I chuckle knowingly, "The print version is

FUCKING GOLD."

Still not convinced? Here are the vital statistics: The books are printed on luxurious 110-pound Cougar Natural paper from extremely hi-resolution scans, reproduced at exactly the size they were drawn, and hand-bound in a pamphlet stitch. Each sheet of paper has been individually creased and folded to ensure that the book lies flat, and the edges have been exactingly trimmed to be flush. And yes, the covers are actually printed on gleaming, expensive gold paper. I've spent weeks on this sucker, and I'm very proud of the high production value.

Please note: Printed at the same size it was drawn. Very spiffy.

But more than that: this book was meant to be read on paper. The pacing works better on paper. The drawings look better on paper. And you'll have a rare, precious artifact all to yourself, long after you've finished reading it.

UPDATE:
All my copies are sold. But they're still at Powell's and at other comic book stores around the city of Portland.
