this is one of my favorites. he looks a little sad about putting that elephant down. it's like he knows that once he lets it go it will disappear forever and turn into a real elephant and go into the wild and then he won't have a toy or pet anymore.
I think that he is sad because he realizes that the elephant is that last of its kind and it will only live for a few more decades, unable to reproduce.
